Stroboscopic Alternative Motion (SAM)

The figure above contains four circles that flicker on and off, but it looks as though they are shifting around instead.  Depending on how you look at them, they may appear to shift horizontally, vertically, or even in a clockwise or counterclockwise rotation.  The buttons below the figure can help you see them shift in a different way.
